Woodchester Mosaic

Visited Gloucester City Museum yesterday for their Night in the Museum event.  Went along to meet Bob Woodward and the Rev. John Cull who were there to talk about the famous Orpheus mosaic – the finest Roman pavement north of the Alps.  Sadly the real mosaic is buried under the churchyard in Woodchester and is unlikely to be uncovered again, but a full scale replica built by Bob and his brother John is on show.  Great to chat to these two gentlemen who have such knowledge about the mosaic and were generous with their time to share it.

I’ll post more about this at the weekend when I have more time.
