The blog stats are showing a significant jump this week, so whoever you are and wherever you are in the world: welcome and I hope you enjoy this blog. I suspect some of you are here via BirdForum http://www.birdforum.net/ as I joined this week and have had a lot of hits on my posts. It’s a huge site with lots of friendly people, so if birds are your thing do check it out.
I’ve just applied for my stand in the art marquee at this year’s Bird Fair, Rutland Water http://www.birdfair.org.uk/. It’s the wildlife enthusiast’s Glastonbury, but without the drugs and sometimes without the mud. Great fun to take part in as there are lots of lectures, demonstrations and competitions, as well as exhibitions, trade stands and lakeside walks amid beautiful scenery. Not surprising that Bird Fair gets about 20,000 visitors each year. I may be doing one of the lectures this year and hope to demonstrate some painting techniques on my stand. Last year’s event raised a staggering £263,000 to help protect critically endangered bird species, so lets hear it for the Bird Fair team!
