Enjoyed the first Open Studio of the year today – four more to come in June. Most people who came were either new acquaintances or those who hadn’t seen the studio before, so it was good to show it off. Loads of great comments about my work too, and it was especially gratifying that the newest work was well received.
These days every event I do seems to require proof of Public & Products Liability Insurance, and a lot of insurance companies out there seem to struggle to offer anything suitable for artists. Either they won’t cover us at all or the premiums are sky high. So here’s my Top Tip of the day for all you UK-based creative folks out there: I’ve just discovered that when you subscribe to A-N (Artist’s Newsletter) you get PPLI cover free! Better still it’s tailor-made for those in the Creative Industries, so includes exhibitions, residencies, open studios, workshops… i.e. all the events that make most insurers panic. There’s more information via the link below (click on the a-n membership benefits box), but let’s hope none of us ever actually need it!
