Disappearing Deer

Is it a coincidence that my roe deer sightings ceased as soon as cattle were released in to the field where I usually watched them?  Up to a couple of weeks ago I saw up to five most days, since then I’ve had one single view.  Admittedly I don’t spend all my time gazing out of the studio window, but my viewing patterns haven’t changed – and neither has anything else, as far as I can tell.  It’s annoying as I was looking forward to sketching them, especially now the weather’s warm enough to open the studio window.  I’m curious, so all you deer experts out there: please let me know.

I am not sure about cattle, but my workshop used to overlook a field that had a donkey or two in it, and the deer were not worried by them!
