Brief Encounters

Went for a walk in the local woods to find references for Christmas card design for The Deer Fund.  Had briefest glimpse of back end of fallow deer disappearing over the horizon, then saw eight more fallow deer disturbed by my presence.  Decided I was unlikely to see any more as the path had taken me to the edge of the wood, which put me upwind of any deer, but as I turned a corner I came face to face with a young roe.  Well, binocular to face actually.  Great view, so thank you Swarovski!  She wandered off from the path amongst the trees, and was mostly hidden from view amongst the foliage.  Just had a hint of her burnt sienna back amid a sea of green – glorious!
