Today I’m very happy to learn that I’ve had two paintings accepted for the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours 199th annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.
I haven’t submitted any work to them before so I wasn’t sure if they’d feel my work would fit in with their aims. It’s always nerve-wracking waiting for an acceptance or rejection letter.
It must be very difficult for the organisers too. They have to strike a balance between established and new artists, traditional and innovative styles, and the number of works they can hang are limited by space. I’m glad I’m not on the selection panel!
My two accepted works are Dancing Cranes and Owls of Ancient Egypt which can be seen on the Egypt page of my website http://www.jackiegarner.co.uk/egypt.htm.
I’m delighted to be part of an exhibition heralded as “the best in contemporary watercolour painting”.
